Retiring Minds: A Study of the Process of Retirement

This project will begin to identiy interventions, program designs, and action models that address  the retirement vision among Baby Boomer workers born between 1946 and 1964.  These results will help explain how individuals manage the transition from working full-time in the labor force to seeking and engaging in other alternatives.

Researchers

Pat Hendrickson, Ed.D

Dr. Pat Hendrickson presents workshops at schools, colleges, universities, consortia, and conferences in the United States and internationally. In addition to the classic grounded theory research method, her interests include media, gaming, and simulation with an emphasis on virtual worlds and behaviors within those environments.  In July 2016, Hendrickson was awarded a research fellowship with The Institute for Social Innovation at Fielding Graduate University and is focused on the process of retirement in Baby Boomers .  She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Change with a concentration in Grounded Theory/Grounded Action at Fielding Graduate University, CA.


Steve Smith, MA,CPP

Steve Smith has been in public education professionally since 1988 and decided to create 1st Person Seminars Higher Education Consulting, LLC in 2013 to host professional learning seminars for educators. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Special/Correctional Education from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina and is a LERN Certified Program Planner.
